The FBMH Technology Platforms allow the interrogation of biology and disease from molecular interactions to whole organisms, supporting research, innovation and technology development. Our staff provide comprehensive support throughout the entire experimental process, from initial consultation on appropriate strategies and planning, through to sample preparation, and data acquisition and analysis.
The Head of Technical Operations (Technology Platforms) is a strategically important role within the Faculty’s extended Professional Services leadership. Working closely in partnership with the Vice Dean for Research and Innovation, the Associate Dean for Research Technology Platforms, and Academic Directors of the Technology Platforms, the role is pivotal in ensuring that our Technology Platforms are aligned to the research and innovation needs of the Faculty, and that services are optimised, high performing, sustainable, and responding to researcher demand.
The role requires outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to ensure continuous improvement and a commitment to service excellence. The successful candidate will be proactive, leaning in to resolve issues or challenges on their own initiative, building excellent inter- and cross-institutional relationships to facilitate collaborative and interdisciplinary research, and ensuring the platforms remain at the forefront of technology development and application.
