The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.
We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead procurement and purchasing operations, policy and strategy at LSHTM. You will be leading an established team of 7 colleagues, focussed on ensuring LSHTM achieves value for money across its influenceable non-pay expenditure and that procurement approaches are aligned to LSHTM’s mission, values and ambitions.
You will be expected to further develop the procurement function, moving towards a category approach and ensuring further enhancement of services to a wide range of LSHTM stakeholders.
As such, you will need to be a credible leader and advocate for procurement, combining sensitivity to stakeholder requirements with robustness of process to ensure compliance with internal policy and external regulation.
You must be able to lead LSHTM through a transition period to fully embed the new Procurement Act 2023 and sustainability into our operations. You must be comfortable working in a dynamic and changing environment.
Due to the seniority of this post, we expect that you will be a CIPS member or have equivalent experience that demonstrates your professional knowledge, skills and personal development. Experience of leadership of a procurement function within a complex environment is essential (preferably in Higher Education / Public Sector).
The post is full-time and offered on a permanent basis.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 8 in the range £63,579 - £72,972 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting).
The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
