About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Research Associate with interest/expertise in Neurosciences and inflammation or related field to work with us investigating how social factors lead to mental and physical illness, and lifestyle intervention and generally supporting the Translational Pharmacology Lab. The position is funded by the Wellcome Trust 0.6 FTE until October 2027 due to funding (Life Study). You will work at the Translational Pharmacology Lab directed by Dr. Livia A. Carvalho. The post holder will apply mostly wet-, but sometimes dry- lab methods in appropriate human clinical studies to interrogate research questions related to development, maintenance and treatment of mental illnesses.

About You

The successful candidate will be expected to have at least an undergraduate degree in genomics, biomedical sciences, Immunology, or related field, an interest in neurosciences, with excellent hands-on wet lab data capture and analysis experience. Data analysis skills are desirable. Key attributes of the successful candidate should include evidence of prior research productivity, great communication and interpersonal skills, good organisation, self-motivation, independence and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

About the Team

The William Harvey Research Institute has a strong and growing group working in genomics and research is focused of the Institute is on neuroendocrine, inflammation and cardiovascular disease and a particular strength in human genetics.

Our team have large experience in the field of Psychoneuroimmunology human lab work combining clinical and epidemiological approaches to understand the biological embedding of stress in people with or at-risk of mental illness.

 The post is based at the Charterhouse Square Campus in London. This is a part-time fixed term appointment with a finish date of 17/10/27 in the first instance. The starting salary will be Grade 4 at £38,419 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
