Background
The Credit Controller Assist will be responsible for supporting the Credit Controllers within the Income Team fulfil their responsibility to provide a full sales ledger and debt collection service to their assigned areas. The Credit Controller Assistant will provide services to students and other external bodies and as such are required to be responsive and provide a high-quality customer service. The role delivers an essential service and its success is vital to cash flow management.
Responsibilities
The role supports Credit Controllers in delivering a full sales ledger and debt collection service. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate customer data in SITS, processing payment plans, recurring card payments, and sponsorship forms, and chasing overdue balances while recording outcomes. You will manage the Income Team inbox and phone lines, handling student enquiries or redirecting complex cases. The role also covers raising proforma invoices, processing tax requests, assisting with Postgraduate Loans, and resolving student ledger queries. You will liaise with Schools and Departments on outstanding balances, support student registration, and collaborate with Student Records. The post requires professionalism, cooperation, flexibility, and undertaking other reasonable duties as needed.
Person Specification
We are seeking a professional and numerate individual with experience in credit control or finance and a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong communication, organisational, and time management skills, along with proficiency in MS Office and Outlook and the ability to work independently. A degree or equivalent professional experience, knowledge of technical accounting or finance systems, experience in Higher Education, and a commitment to personal development are desirable. A strong customer focus and professional approach are essential.
