About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Developmental Immunology Research Group of Professor Georg Holländer in the Department of Paediatrics as a Post Doctoral Research Associate.
You will play an important role in the contribution in understanding ways to rejuvenate the thymus and thus the adaptive immune system in health and disease.
You will be responsible for co-designing and executing research programmes related to different aspects of thymus biology employing informative experimental models and a broad range of analytical platforms, including single cell transcriptomic analysis and advanced flow cytometry.
You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology. The Developmental Immunology Research Group under the lead of Professor Georg Holländer conducts research on the molecular and cellular control of thymus development and function.
This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially for two years with the possibility to extend provided further funding is available. Part-time applications may be considered (with a minimum of 80% FTE).

About you
You will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory Science), sufficient specialist knowledge and relevant experience of working in an interdisciplinary research team, and proven and demonstrable theoretical and technical skills in immunology, including flow cytometry, basic molecular biology, cellular assays, cell culture techniques, and biological data analysis. You will have highly effective verbal and written communication skills with all level of staff and an ability to operate effectively in a demanding and busy research environment.
