About the Role
The postholder will lead the ADHOC Trial and CHERISH study across all stages, applying research principles and protocols, planning and delivering study activities, and conducting empirical research. They will oversee specific research tasks, develop new techniques, and generate original contributions to the programme while fostering a collaborative team environment. Key responsibilities include data collection, analysis, and database management; preparing research findings for conferences, peer-reviewed journals, and reports; and conducting literature reviews to guide study development. The role involves supervising research staff and students, supporting grant applications, and ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice, data protection, and health and safety standards. The postholder will also liaise with institutional teams to manage administrative aspects, maintain professional development, and contribute to a positive and productive research environment.
About You
The postholder will hold a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field, with strong knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, including qualitative interviewing, data analysis using specialist software, and questionnaire administration. Expertise in respiratory physiology, air pollution research, and NHS-based research involving diverse populations and primary school-aged children is essential. They will have experience leading and managing research teams, supervising staff, coordinating data collection in schools, and maintaining accurate records and datasets. Skills in project management, report writing, data interpretation, and dissemination through publications and conferences are required, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office and REDCap. The candidate will be self-motivated, organised, collaborative, able to work flexibly across multiple projects, and committed to confidentiality, accuracy, and high research standards.
