The Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI) in the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM) is recruiting a Project Manager: Assurance & Finance for the Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative, a high-profile initiative delivered in partnership with Science for Africa (SFA) Foundation, based in Nairobi, and Mastercard Foundation.
PSI was established in 2021 as a University-wide initiative to build on the model of innovation, collaboration and agility that delivered breakthroughs during COVID-19. Through excellence in research and equitable global partnerships, PSI aims to safeguard health and economic stability for future generations, with support from a wide range of funders.
As Project Manager, you will serve as PSI’s primary assurance and finance specialist for the Collaborative. This is an exciting and wide-ranging role which offers exposure to senior stakeholders within and beyond the University. Working closely with the Senior Programme Manager and the NDM Director of Compliance & Assurance you will support the management of a budget of up to $80 million, reviewing overseas expenditure, preparing f financial reports, and coordinating annual re-budgeting processes. The role will involve analysing and interpreting complex financial data, maintaining detailed trackers and documentation, supporting with risk management, , and ensuring effective communication across diverse programme stakeholders. Some international travel to Africa will be required.
We are looking for an individual with strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, proven experience managing assurance, compliance and finance activities within complex international programmes, and a solid grasp of financial systems and processes. You should be highly skilled in Excel and able to prepare, monitor and forecast large, activity-based budgets. The role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the confidence to present complex information clearly to senior stakeholders and committees. You should be comfortable influencing, challenging, and guiding decisions in a collaborative way, with well-developed problem-solving skills and an interest in global health and/or international development.
It is essential that you hold a degree in a relevant subject, and that you have. experience working in resource-constrained settings and/or within complex international partnerships. Experience gained in higher education or research settings and a professional finance or assurance qualification (completed or in progress) would be an advantage.
