Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their ambitions? Join the GROWS team, a partnership of Gloucestershire’s higher education providers led by the University of Gloucestershire, delivering the Office for Students (OfS) Uni Connect Programme across the county.

We are always interested in hearing from candidates who are interested in joining the GROWs team. Currently we are recruiting for a 1 FTE ( FTC until 31 August 2026) at either of Grade 6, Widening Participation Officer or Grade 5, Outreach Support Officer role.

About the Roles:

Both roles play a key part in inspiring and informing secondary school students about their future education options, including university and apprenticeships. By delivering a range of presentations and workshops you’ll enthusiastically inform and engage young people to think about and plan their futures.

As a Widening Participation Officer (WPO) you'll project manage, plan and deliver a wide range of activities, events and presentations both in local schools and on campus. These include everything from subject-specific enrichment sessions and hands-on campus experiences to tailored information, advice and guidance (IAG) on educational pathways and careers.

As an Outreach Support Officer (OSO) you will be required to support the wider team by delivering the range of sessions, assisting with the preparation of resources as well liaising with partners to arrange sessions and administering activity bookings.

If you're someone who thrives on working directly with young people, enjoys planning and delivering events, and believes in the power of education to transform lives, this is your chance to be part of a team that works to break down barriers and improve access to education.

You’ll work flexibly, with time spent in schools, on campus, and working from home. Access to a vehicle is important due to the nature of the role and equipment that needs to be taken to schools and colleges to deliver the sessions

You will find both job descriptions below, when applying please list your preference of role you are interested in. We will take this into account when shortlisting, however the essential criteria will also be taken into consideration, to ensure we are interviewing you for the right role based on your skills and experience.
