Connecting people, ideas, and research for lasting impact
We're looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator who's passionate about bringing communities and researchers together. Someone who sees the value in community partnerships and knows how to create spaces where collaboration can thrive.
In this role, you'll lead projects from planning to delivery, organise inclusive events and workshops, and embed equity, diversity and inclusion into everything you do. You'll work closely with researchers and community partners creating opportunities for knowledge exchange with real world impact.
You'll be confident managing multiple priorities, building relationships, and supporting research collaborations. You'll bring strong organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to working in new ways. Experience working with diverse communities and a good grasp of Microsoft Office tools are essential.
If you're someone who listens deeply, has excellent interpersonal skills, and wants to help shape meaningful engagement - we'd love to hear from you.
The Community Engagement Coordinator will work directly with the Community Engagement Manager who leads on the development and delivery of our strategic approach to Community Engagement.
At the University of Cambridge, Community Engagement with research means building real, lasting relationships based on connection, collaboration, and inclusion. We're not just reaching out; we're working together with communities to shape research that matters to them.
Based within the Engagement Knowledge Exchange and Impact team the role works closely with colleagues to ensure that our engagement is rooted in a commitment to sharing knowledge, sparking dialogue, and building meaningful connections beyond academia.
Through collaborative projects, inclusive events, and creative partnerships, the University works with communities to explore ideas, address shared challenges, and celebrate diverse perspectives. It's about making research accessible, relevant, and responsive - ensuring that everyone has a voice in shaping the future.
This role is open to external candidates and also to internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role in the University.
Working pattern: This is a part-time role offered at 60% FTE
The team works in a hybrid way with office days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We are happy to discuss working patterns with the successful candidate but would expect the role holder to work in the office on at least one of these days. Some weekend and evening working will be required for community events and during the Cambridge Festival.
We particularly welcome applications from candidates from a BME background for this vacancy as they are currently under-represented at this level in our University.
