Do you have recent clinical experience, especially in medical in-patient or community nursing/nursing associate practice (open to all fields)?
Are you an NMC registered nurse or nursing associate, highly skilled in the education of healthcare staff? Are you experienced in the integration between academic and professional learning? Do you have a commitment to the professional development of the healthcare workforce and an interest in widening participation in Higher Education? The Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) at the University of Leeds developed the Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeship in 2018. In 2022 our apprenticeship provision across the University was rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED in all areas. We are seeking to appoint an experienced registered nurse or nursing associate experienced in Practice Assessment, training or education to act as a Teaching Fellow and Academic Assessor to guide and support apprentices on this higher apprenticeship programme.
As a Teaching Fellow you will contribute to the teaching modules on the programme. As an Academic Assessor you will meet with apprentices, and their Practice Assessor, 3 times a year to support the development of the apprenticeship knowledge, skills and behaviours. Our apprentices are experienced health and social care workers who are part of the workforce delivering health and social care in a range of settings. You will be responsible for preparing and running the academic assessor meetings with the apprentices and for follow up admin, including identifying areas for development and setting out and monitoring action plans. You will work with the Deputy Programme Manager to ensure that all apprentices are benefitting from, and engaging appropriately with, clinical placements and protected learning time. The integration between academic and professional learning is a key feature of the programme, so you will need a firm grounding in healthcare, both from an academic and professional perspective, and a thorough understanding of the requirements of the role of the Nursing Associate.
