About the school or department  

The School of Business, Computing, and Social Science (BCSS) is located across three campuses within Cheltenham and Gloucester which provide inspiring learning and teaching environments. The school's strategic aims are founded in social justice and delivered through creative and innovative teaching and the development of external relationships. We pride ourselves on our support for students and aiding students in their employability and personal growth, through innovative pedagogy developments and real-world engagements in our programmes. 

Law is part of Business School which is focused on producing career ready graduates and carrying out high quality research. We bring together excellent teaching, evidenced by outstanding NSS results. Our law students gain experience beyond the classroom through opportunities to participate in internships, Client Interviewing, Mooting, and our student Law Clinic. 

About the role  

We are looking to appoint a new member of staff in the law subject area to join our dynamic, successful, and expanding community. The successful candidate will be professionally qualified and can lead our pro bono student law clinic. Based in City Campus the role is primarily to supervise final year students and to help members of the local community in legal matters. There would also be an expectation that the lead for the law clinic will be responsible for the module in which this activity is based. Leadership of the law clinic will therefore include planning and preparing teaching content, in accordance with the validated module learning outcomes. Adhering to the course approach for the use of technology to support learning. To lead on module quality arrangements, including the formation of continuous reflections and actions with a particular focus on the areas of student satisfaction, student achievement, course viability and course currency. 

To assess at a range of levels within and across module teams, including the development and implementation of assessment briefs and wider course assessment strategy. Leading the course assessment scrutiny panel as module tutor, providing guidance and feedback to students and colleagues, and contributing to Boards of Examiners. To supervise independent projects at a range of levels and the coordination of project supervision, providing tutorial and seminar guidance and support in accordance with module and course approaches. This will require engagement with other colleagues on the law degree and wider school.
