The Student Welfare Team is searching for an empathetic, proactive, and dedicated professional to join our dynamic team within the Student Support Services department.

The core focus of the Student Welfare Officer role is to provide a comprehensive, first-point-of-contact support service for students. The position acts as a case holder, offering confidential advice and guidance on a range of issues—from personal wellbeing and finances to university regulations. The primary goal is to provide a holistic and efficient service that minimises the impact of personal challenges on a student's academic journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting face-to-face and online sessions to advise students and their families.
  • Handling individual student cases from start to finish, making independent decisions on the best course of action and referring to specialist services when necessary.
  • Working closely with various university departments and external agencies to ensure a coordinated and integrated support network.
  • Leading projects and providing wellbeing activities to foster greater student resilience.

An ideal candidate will have a degree (or equivalent) and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Experience handling sensitive information and situations is a must.

We offer a generous annual leave package plus discretionary University closure days, excellent training and development opportunities as well as a great occupational pension scheme and a range of health-related support. The University is committed to a hybrid working approach.

Closing date for applications: Tuesday, 28th October 2025 (23:59)

Interviews will take place on week of 3rd November 2025, in person.
