About the Role

As a uniformed Patrol Officer, you’ll conduct intelligence-led foot and vehicle patrols across the city-wide Collegiate University estate, providing reassurance to staff, students, and visitors while acting as a visible deterrent.

You will respond to a wide range of incidents across University buildings, museums, parks, and gardens, supporting emergency services, local authorities, and partner agencies.

Patrol Officers identify and report safety or security hazards that may cause damage, loss, or injury - including fire, flood, or intrusion - and take appropriate action regarding parking breaches.

You’ll work 12-hour shifts in a rolling pattern: three-day shifts, three rest days, three-night shifts, then three rest days.

About You

This customer-facing role requires a smart, tidy appearance and excellent interpersonal skills. You’ll be a confident communicator, able to build good rapport with staff, students, and visitors.

You’ll work collaboratively as part of a cohesive team, remaining calm, friendly, and professional under pressure. You must also be comfortable using a range of technologies, including CCTV and other security systems, and demonstrate strong computer literacy with Microsoft and web-based packages. Attention to detail and a willingness to learn new systems and technologies are essential.

A full UK or European driving licence is required, as you will operate University vehicles to respond to incidents. You’ll also undertake mental health awareness training and obtain a first aid qualification.
