Applications are invited for a part-time Administrative Assistant in the Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care.  

The successful candidate will provide administrative support on the EMBRACE Study which involves the collection of data for a long-term multi-centre study and is also part of a collaboration study which looks at blood markers that would aid an early detection of breast cancer. The study is funded by Cancer Research UK. Amongst other responsibilities, the role holder will monitor and maintain stock supplies the EMBRACE study. They will also be required to contact GPs, send blood kits out to patients and liaise with clinical genetics centres around the UK to ensure the completeness of data. There will be some data entry of questionnaires and subsequent writing to hospitals for records.

The Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology carries out research into inherited susceptibility to common cancers and conducts significant large-scale analyses both within the Centre and as part of ongoing collaborations.

Applicants should have excellent communication, administrative and IT skills (proficient in Microsoft Office). They should be able to work effectively as part of a team and also be prepared to work using their own initiative. Close attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are essential.

Experience of working in a University administration environment would be an advantage.

This appointment is part-time (minimum of 24 hours/week), working days can be flexible but would ideally include Fridays.

The funding for this post is available until 31 January 2027 in the first instance.

Location: Department of Public Health and Primary Care, Strangeways Research Laboratory, Worts Causeway, Cambridge CB1 8RN (approximately 2 miles south of the city centre).
