This post is full time and has funding for 3 years.
We would like to advertise a three-year Research Associate position, to make a leading contribution to the project “Topology of Algebras” working with Rachael Boyd at the University of Glasgow and Richard Hepworth-Young at the University of Aberdeen. This project is funded by a Leverhulme Trust Research Project Grant, and is centred on the idea of applying known techniques from topology, usually used to study spaces and groups, to the study of algebras. It builds on work of Boyd, Hepworth-Young, and their collaborators, which you can find out about from our homepages: https://www.maths.gla.ac.uk/~rboyd/ and https://homepages.abdn.ac.uk/r.hepworth/pages/
Applicants are therefore expected to have research experience in one or more of the following areas: algebraic topology, homological algebra, representation theory of algebras, or diagram algebras.
The successful applicant will be based in Glasgow and be part of a joint research group between Aberdeen and Glasgow, together with Boyd, Hepworth-Young, and three PhD students. The grant includes funding for the group to regularly meet in person.
There are no teaching requirements, although teaching opportunities at Glasgow are available. The position has a generous travel allowance.
As part of the application each applicant will be asked to upload the following documents:
For informal enquiries, please contact Rachael Boyd (rachael.boyd@glasgow.ac.uk).
