Hours: 14 hours per week (0.4 FTE)

Location: Vernon Square, with occasional travel to Somerset House.

Hybrid working available (currently 60% on-site, 40% remote).

Join our dynamic research team at The Courtauld as Research Policy and Compliance Manager and play a vital role in shaping and safeguarding our research environment.

Working closely with the Head of Research Development and Management, the Dean for Research, and stakeholders across the Institute, you will lead the development and implementation of research policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with best practice and regulatory frameworks.

We’re seeking a self-motivated and organised individual with strong policy and governance experience to support the management of robust research processes and contribute to the success of our research culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain research policies and procedures to ensure compliance with sector standards.
  • Monitor and report on compliance to internal committees and external bodies.
  • Support Open Access compliance and manage institutional research repository procedures.
  • Administer institutional accounts on funder portals (e.g. UKRI, ResearchFish, BA Flexi-Grant).
  • Assist with REF preparation and policy tracking.
  • Review and negotiate research-related contracts with partner institutions.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality of sensitive materials.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in policy and governance within Higher Education or a related sector.
  • Knowledge of UK research regulatory bodies and annual academic cycles.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience with research contracts and training delivery is desirable.
