Senior Scientific Training Officer

UK Biobank

At UK Biobank, we’re committed to enabling groundbreaking research that transforms global health. We’re looking for a Senior Scientific Training Officer to lead the development and delivery of a world-class researcher training programme empowering scientists and innovators worldwide to access and use our data effectively.

And because this is a newly created role, you’ll bring fresh energy and adaptability to shaping processes, fostering collaboration, and building a training function from the ground up.

You will be responsible for:

  • Programme Design and Strategy: Define programme strategy with the Head of Researcher Enablement, engage partners to address user needs (especially underserved communities), develop training activities, and coordinate promotion to the UK Biobank community.
  • Course Development and Content Creation: Collaborate with experts to develop inclusive training content, choose suitable teaching methods and materials, align materials with UK Biobank standards, and work with Communications Department on professional production and branding.
  • Programme Delivery and Accessibility: Recruit and support trainers, manage registration and access via the community portal, integrate content into the UK Biobank platform, and work with the Scientific Training Officer to maintain the training hub.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Line manage the Scientific Training Officer and lead the development and delivery of cross-functional training initiatives that support UK Biobank’s strategic goals and build internal capability.
  • Quality Assurance and Impact Evaluation: Audit training materials for relevance, gather user feedback, and analyse insights to measure impact and drive improvements.
