We (QMSU) are a democratic, membership-led charity that exists to improve students’ lives. You will support this mission by taking a lead in the support and development of academic societies as well as the employability programme at QMSU. The post holder will also support the wider Student Engagement Team’s work as and when required support the department with stakeholder management across QMSU and the University.

We support over 28,000 students who make up the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary University of London. This role will be within the Student Engagement team, who support about 300 student-led groups, making it the largest area of student-led activity within QMSU. In addition to societies, the team is responsible for Raise and Give (RAG), Volunteering, Student Media, Employability and Sustainability. Each coordinator in the team is responsible for supporting a selection of student groups, with this role being responsible for the development of Academic Societies and delivery of the Skills Awards.

The successful candidate will have the ability to use their own initiative and have experience of working with students. As this role is student-facing, it’s essential that you have a positive attitude and are passionate about student experiences. The role will lead on all aspects of academic societies, including supporting them to deliver a range of engaging events, through training, development, governance and administrative support.

Their remit will also involve leading our employability initiatives and our skills recognition programme to help students build confidence and prepare for life beyond university.

Applicants should have a good understanding of the needs of students, have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people.

This is a full-time (35 hours per week), permanent position. The starting salary will be £33,263 per annum pro-rata, inclusive of the London Allowance, with annual raises by one point as set out in the QMUL Pay and Grading Structure.
