Arts University Plymouth is seeking a committed Lecturer to join our postgraduate teaching team. This role is an exciting opportunity for a creative academic professional who is passionate about innovative teaching, interdisciplinary learning, and student success.

The role is responsible for teaching MA students across multiple design and craft-focused programmes. You'll deliver subject-specific seminars and tutorials within a shared postgraduate curricular framework, supporting student-led projects and interdisciplinary learning. We’re looking for a candidate with creative and professional expertise in contemporary craft and material-led practices—such as ceramics, glass, wood, biomaterials, or other natural/synthetic materials—who can contribute to both practice and critical discourse in the field.

About You:

  • You will have proven experience in Higher Education teaching, in contemporary craft,, ceramics, glass, biomaterials or a related, materially-led creative practice 
  • You will hold in-depth understanding of the creative and craft industries, with the ability to apply theory to practice
  • You’ll have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and external partners
  • You will hold a minimum of an MA level qualification.
  • If you have experience with  techniques in ceramics, hot glass, or biomaterials  this would be advantageous.

About The Role:

  • Deliver high-quality postgraduate teaching, feedback, and assessment across subject-specific and cross-disciplinary Units/Seminars.
  • Lead assigned Units, including planning, scheduling, delivery, and assessment, while maintaining accurate and timely reporting.
  • Foster innovative and inclusive learning environments that promote student engagement, progression, and achievement.
  • Support students’ professional development and career preparedness aligned with graduate outcomes
