About the Role
This is a faculty-based role, situated within the Faculty’s research and professional services structure, and plays a critical part in the operational delivery of post-award research support. Guided and supported by the Joint Research Management Office (JRMO), the post-holder is responsible for the day-to-day management of post-award research activities across the Faculty’s Schools and Institutes.
Acting as a key point of expertise, the role provides operational support to Principal Investigators (PIs) and Faculty Professional Services teams, ensuring the effective and compliant administration of research grants. This includes overseeing delegated financial responsibilities, ensuring adherence to Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) policies, and managing complex queries related to the Faculty’s research portfolio.
About You
The post-holder will work collaboratively with senior academic and professional services colleagues to ensure a seamless and high-quality service, aligned with university-wide operational standards. They will also contribute to strategic oversight by providing regular reporting and insights to Faculty Management and Executive teams.
This is a high-profile, proactive, and specialist role, requiring a high level of professionalism, extensive experience in post-award research administration, and a commitment to delivering excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders. The post-holder will be results-oriented, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the Faculty’s research ambitions through operational excellence.

The post is based at our Whitechapel campus in London. It is a full-time fixed-term maternity cover position for 12 months, with expected start date of February 2026.
