The role

We are looking for someone with clinical experience in maternity care and a passion for tackling ethnicity related inequalities in pregnancy to join the Academic Women’s Health Unit at the University of Bristol.

Goals of the project

The role involves supporting a research project funded to improve risk-prediction of preeclampsia for global majority women and birthing people. You will work alongside the research team to address the following aims:

  • Identify barriers faced by maternity clinicians when discussing ethnicity and risk of preeclampsia
  • Explore the preferences, wishes and perspectives of WABP when discussing ethnicity and risk of preeclampsia with clinicians.
  • Co-produce evidence-based educational training tools for clinicians to improve their competence and sensitivity when discussing issues of ethnicity and risk of preeclampsia.

What will you be doing?

Your role will involve

  • organisation of research and co-production meetings and events
  • assisting with analysis of qualitative data
  • supporting women and birthing people who work on the research project
  • assisting with recruitment of research and coproduction participants
  • documenting and disseminating research activities to the research team and or social media and the project website

The role is for 1 day/week across the whole project which will run for 3 years.

It is a hybrid role where some work will be required to be in-person in the Bristol area but some events will be around the UK. Funding for travel is available.

You must have clinical experience in maternity care, an active interest in anti-racism in maternity care and a working knowledge of clinical care around hypertension in pregnancy.
