About the Role
Applications are invited for a five-year British Heart Foundation (BHF)–funded Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the laboratory of Professor Paul Evans at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated early-career researcher to join a productive, internationally recognised team studying endothelial cell biology in atherosclerosis. The project will combine patient-derived endothelial colony-forming cells with advanced coronary artery imaging from patients at Barts Health NHS Trust to identify individuals at risk of accelerated coronary artery disease (CAD) and develop improved approaches for patient stratification. The successful candidate will collaborate with clinical researchers at Barts Hospital, including Professors Christos Bourantas and Francesca Pugliese, alongside basic scientists at the Institute and a clinical fellow within the same BHF programme. The role offers the chance to develop expertise across vascular biology, clinical research, and cardiovascular imaging while contributing to translational work with clear potential for patient benefit.
About You
We seek an outstanding, self-motivated early-career researcher committed to developing a scientific career. Candidates should hold a PhD in cardiovascular biology or a related discipline. Experience in endothelial cell culture - particularly endothelial colony-forming cells - and familiarity with RNA sequencing analysis are desirable
