About the department
Libraries and Student Support Services offer student-centred support across a range of teams to enrich the student experience throughout their academic journey.  These teams collaborate with other professional and academic colleagues across the University to deliver a professional, high quality, and customer-focused service aligned with the University’s academic mission and strategic priorities.
The Student Centres play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality student support and guidance within the University. Offering collaborative assistance, the centres provide in-person support for needs that extend beyond digital assistance, aiming to address most issues directly and efficiently, referring students to specialised services when necessary.
Student Centre Advisers are a responsible for providing advice and guidance to students, alongside supporting library functions. They work with a team of Student Centre Assistants and Student Centre Officers as well as maintaining strong relationships with professional and academic colleagues across the University.
About the role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and empathetic individual to join our Student Centre team as a Student Centre Adviser. You’ll be at the heart of the student experience, providing high-quality, customer-focused support both in-person and online. You’ll be the first point of contact for a wide range of student enquiries, offering guidance, resolving issues, and connecting students with specialist services across the University.
Our Student Centre Advisers resolve enquiries at first contact where possible, refer students to specialist services, and promote digital tools for 24/7 access. You’ll assist with library navigation, troubleshoot access issues, and manage digital and physical resources. You’ll also maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvements.
The role requires flexibility, with occasional weekend work to support University events such as open days. This is a varied and dynamic role that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the student experience, working at the heart of our University’s support services.
