About the Role
The School of the Arts is looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work closely with Principal Investigator on an ERC funded project entitled “Digital Al-Andalus: Radical Perspectives of and Through Al-Andalus”. The post-holder will undertake research and impact activities connected to the study of online discourses about cultural coexistence and confrontation in North Africa and Iberia. The post-holder is expected to work on themes linked to the main project to develop notions of digital citizenship and digital warfare in collaboration with, and under the supervision of the PI.
The post is full-time, fixed-term appointment for 24 months, with an expected start on 1st January 2026 to 31 December 2027 and available due to research funding. The salary will be £42,091 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
About You
You must hold a PhD in Cultural Studies, Media and Communication, Digital Cultures, or other relevant subject in Humanities and Social Sciences. You must have prior experience in planning and delivering public engagement or outreach activities, data collection and analysis, and writing up research results. Your English writing skills must be accessible, accurate, and engaging, and you should have a high level of proficiency in Arabic, and desirably Spanish. You should have relevant communication and organisational skills and maintain a high level of accuracy in your work. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a team and possess strong interpersonal skills to deal professionally with people at all levels.
