Background

This role would be based in the School of Social Policy and Society. The School delivers a suite of undergraduate, postgraduate, professional, and executive education programmes to a diverse and international student population. We undertake research that matters, collaborating with our research partners from the private, public and third sectors from across the world.

Role Summary

The Head of Operations (HoOp) is a key role in each of our four Schools, taking responsibility for the operational running of the school, and to ensure the provision of high-quality, professional, and efficient service delivery of administration and support, which underpins School, College and University strategic priorities. It also has a significant role in developing and leading professional services across the College. 

Reporting in to the College Director of Operations and working closing with the Head of School, Head of Operations are key members of the School Strategic Management team, College Professional Services Strategic Leadership Team (PSSLT), and contributing to our ambitions to enhance the services we provide for education and research The Head of Operations role is a College role, based locally within a School, and part of a team of Heads of Operations. Flexibility is a key aspect of this position, with occasional cover and support to other Schools within the College based on operational demand and business need

The Head of Operations will be required to think strategically with excellent communication and leadership skills, significant operational experience, and a commitment to continuous improvement of excellent service delivery through a collaborative and inclusive approach.

Qualifications

  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications) plus relevant operational experience in complex organisations, including, but not exclusively, higher education.
