Student and Registry Services is one of the larger Professional Services divisions at UCL, providing essential services to UCL’s 50,000 students, 160,000 applicants and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high-quality student experience.
UCL Student Support and Wellbeing Services provides information, advice and welfare support for all registered students, including delivery of related student events.
UCL has expanded to east London, located on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with its first two buildings having opened in 2022 and 2023. The campus offers a range of facilities including Student Support and Wellbeing Services.
The postholder will be required to work in a hybrid fashion and across both UCL East and Bloomsbury.
About the role
The Student Support and Wellbeing Manager (Events and Campaigns) plays a pivotal role in the strategic development and delivery of all communication, campaign, and preventative activities within the Student Support and Wellbeing Services at UCL.
The postholder will manage wellbeing initiatives with a preventative focus, empowering students to take proactive steps to support their health and wellbeing before issues escalate. This includes ensuring sector-leading, data-informed initiatives with measurable year-on-year growth.
The postholder will be responsible for maintaining consistency across all communications, marketing outputs, and the overall visual identity of Student Support and Wellbeing Services within the UCL community.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need substantial experience in leading and organizing campaigns, events, and projects, ideally within a large and complex organization. You should have a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale campaigns, from developing strategies to implementing them effectively. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential, as you will be required to produce a range of online and printed materials, translating complex information into clear, accessible language. Experience in report writing, data analysis, and presentation is also important, as is the ability to build positive relationships with staff at all levels.
In addition, you should have experience working with students, staff of varying seniority, and external partners, as well as a background in leading, managing, and motivating a team. A commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds is key, along with experience producing content for websites and other publications. Knowledge of higher education environments, student welfare, and student experience issues will be beneficial. You should also be comfortable presenting to audiences, conducting benchmarking or audit activities, and using social media effectively to engage large audiences and communicate key messages.
