This is an exciting opportunity to join the Biosciences Operations Team.
The Operations Team underpins the Division of Biosciences, ensuring its facilities, safety, and infrastructure operate efficiently and in full compliance.
About the Role
The Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the effective, safe, and compliant running of all Biosciences Division buildings and facilities, working closely with UCL Estates and other central services. The team oversees building infrastructure, maintenance, and statutory inspections, while coordinating health and safety management across departments. They also manage core laboratory services, including equipment maintenance, autoclaving, glasswashing, and waste removal, and support staff with laboratory and office moves. Through proactive collaboration and technical expertise, the team underpins the Division’s research and teaching activities by providing a consistent, high-quality operational service
Salary is £43,981 per annum.

About You
You should be a fit, proactive team player, able to work autonomously and draw on team support when necessary. You will ensure the smooth and compliant operation of all Biosciences Division facilities, maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-supported environment for research and teaching. Coordinate building maintenance, laboratory services, and health and safety activities in partnership with Estates and central UCL teams. The role also involves managing staff, service contracts, and infrastructure projects to deliver reliable operational support and continuous improvement across the Division. Ultimately, success in this role means enabling academic and research excellence through effective operational leadership.
You must have a first degree, ideally in Life Sciences or a related field, or relevant experience. A formal qualification in Health and Safety is desirable and/or facilities management and proven knowledge of laboratory-based environments.
Experience in prioritising a busy and varied workload is also essential.
