About the role

Applications are invited for a Grade 6 Laboratory technician to join the Molecular and Cellular Immunology Section at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. This post will support cutting edge research and have direct impact on patient outcomes, in a unit with an excellent track-record in both basic and clinical science. The facility has an MHRA manufacturing licence to manufacture investigational medicinal products (IMP) and works to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Currently we have 5 active clean room suites located in the Zayed Centre for Research (ZCR). Over the last 20 years the gene therapy programme at UCL GOS ICH and GOSH has grown to become one of the largest programmes worldwide. The experience and expertise generated has led to the development of other gene and cell therapies for metabolic disease, inherited skin conditions, HIV and T cell therapies for cancer. The post will be at technician level and the expectation is the applicant will have a good unde rstanding of day to day running of a laboratory or clean room facility. The position does have a significant administrative component. An understanding of GMP, HTA and GCP requirements is desirable. The post-holder will be part of a small team that interact to manage the unit’s activities both in ICH and GOSH. The post will primarily be involved in supporting manufacturing CD34+ stem cell advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) that will be used to treat paediatric patients with rare diseases such as MPSII, ADA, AR-CGD, XLP and X-linked SCID. The salary offered in this post is £36,433 - £40,805 per annum and is funded until 31/03/2026 in the first instance.

About you

Applicants must have a BSc. or equivalent) in a relevant subject area and experience in a research or clinical laboratory.
