The Sociology Department has an exciting opportunity for a highly dedicated and effective individual to be the administrative lead for the Department's research remit. This includes supporting staff with research projects and associated resources over the lifetime of the project, developing and implementing Knowledge Exchange and Impact strategies, and to provide lead administrative support for future REF submissions. The postholder will be required to manage the MPhil/PhD programme and support both applicants and students.
The post holder will also manage the Research Coordinator, who provides support to the Research Manager within the Department.
You should be educated to at least degree level and have experience of working in Higher Education or research administration. You will be familiar with research programme administration, the Research Excellence Framework, and research grants. You should have experience of managing and planning events.
You will be expected to prioritise, plan and organise multiple tasks with competing priorities, often under pressure and using own initiate with limited supervision. You must also have the ability to manage long and short-term projects, alongside day-to-day workload.
The role requires a high level of accuracy and flexibility, experience of anticipating problems and identifying potential solutions, and the ability to manage your own workload, as well as those you are managing.
You should possess excellent IT and written communications skills, and the ability to deal with people at all levels.
