This is a fixed term appointment for 24 months (possibility to extend subject to funding)
The London School of Economics is a cosmopolitan university situated in the vibrant centre of London that specialises in the study of social sciences. LSE’s DTS division provides services to over 10,000 staff and student users.
As an experienced Data Analyst, you will take a supporting role on designing, developing and deploying data solutions that can inform improvements in student education and experience. Working as part of the Data and Development Team, you will help to maintain critical datasets and administer usage of data and visualisation tools. You will be involved across all aspects of service delivery including project work and continuous service improvement.
You will need broad knowledge and experience working with data, with a focus on identifying, collecting, and preparing data from multiple sources for onwards analysis, visualisation, and presentation. You will have experience of specialist tools such as Alteryx Designer, Tableau Desktop, Business Objects or similar. You will work across a variety of data landscape at LSE, including collaborating with and supporting colleagues across LSE in their own analysis and use of data. You will also have the chance to help shape the implementation of LSE’s data platform using Microsoft Fabric.
The role will involve the following:
o Development of data sources and related metadata
o Use of formulae and calculated fields to enhance data
o Worksheets and dashboards for interactive analysis
o Good proficiency in databases, including Oracle and Ms SQL Server
o Extraction and blending of data from multiple sources
o Transformations, filters, aggregation, sampling
o Tests and error handling
o Preparation of data for use in other tools
o Understand source code control and versioning; be able to effectively use tools such as Git.
o Administer Tableau Server Group permissions and capabilities
o Manage SAP Business Objects Users, Groups and Folders
o Monitor server performance
o Update data connections, universe designs and promotion management
