Hours: Full Time

Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students.

The Strategy, Governance and External Relations (SGER) service leads the University in both its outward facing activities and our internal corporate relationships and communications. The team covers a range of activities, including Communications, Events and Engagement, Governance, Marketing, Web and Design, Strategic Planning, UK Recruitment and Admissions and Administrative Services. The staff comprises a mix of specialisms to ensure the University is positioned with a distinctive voice and creates impact in terms of both reputation and revenue.

SGER is seeking to appoint an experienced Creative Services Manager to join the Marketing, Web and Design team. This new senior role will set the creative direction for how Abertay shows up in the world, leading a small in-house team to deliver clear, consistent and impactful content across digital and print. Acting as both brand guardian and creative catalyst, you will help drive student recruitment and enhance the University’s reputation.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will lead the evolution of Abertay’s brand – visual identity, tone, messaging and templates – keeping everything accessible, inclusive and consistent. You will shape concepts for flagship campaigns such as Open Days, Clearing, key portfolio launches and postgraduate intakes, and oversee creative delivery across the website, landing pages, email, social media, video, print and out-of-home. You will own the creative pipeline from brief and scoping through to scheduling, resourcing and sign-off, working closely with colleagues across Faculties, Recruitment, Communications and external agencies to deliver joined-up campaigns that perform.

You will line manage and coach a Digital Content Editor and Graphic Designer, setting high standards for brand expression, editorial quality, SEO and accessibility. Confident and decisive, you will give clear feedback, remove blockers and make timely decisions on creative direction. You will champion equity, diversity and inclusion in our communications, use data and user insight to refine creative work, and model a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach that balances pace with quality.

You will bring a strong track record of leading a creative function, with an impressive portfolio spanning digital and print, advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud, and proven copywriting and editing experience. You will be comfortable managing multiple projects and stakeholders, planning workloads, working with agencies and improving processes. Experience in higher education or another regulated environment, along with familiarity with CMS platforms and video/motion workflows, would be an advantage.

If you believe you have the skills and experience for this exciting and challenging role, please submit your application through our online recruitment system, which can be found at www.abertay.ac.uk/discover/work-here/jobs

Please note that we will only accept applications through our online recruitment system.
