Student Welfare and Support Services (SWSS) works with colleges, departments, the Student Union, and external partners on student health and welfare. Our services—including Counselling, Disability Advisory, Sexual Harassment and Violence Support, Peer Support, and Mental Health Awareness Training—promote wellbeing and help students thrive.

About the Role
The Mental Health Advisor will play a key role in the new Mental Health Advisory Service—a three-year pilot establishing specialist support for undergraduate and postgraduate students with serious, complex, or long-term mental health difficulties.
Working within a culturally sensitive, neuro-inclusive, social-recovery model, you will provide assessment, intervention, and care and safety planning to help students engage with their studies and wider university life.
You will also offer specialist advice to academic and professional staff and act as a key link between the University, colleges, and NHS services to ensure coordinated support and effective care pathways.
Finally, you will contribute to the development and review of this new service, supporting continuous improvement and best practice in student mental health provision.
