An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Lecturer in Graphic Design to join the new Department of Arts in the School of Arts and Humanities. Situated within the thriving subject area of Design and Architecture, we are seeking to appoint a candidate who will support excellent teaching, admissions and recruitment, champion professional networks, and enjoy research in the expanded field of Graphic Design.

The Department of Arts provides a supportive and collegiate environment with excellent research facilities. We are committed to the School of Arts and Humanities' vibrant “Cultures of” programme and are proud to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our standards of academic achievement are high, our environment is inspiring, and we embrace innovation. We are part of a modern campus with a diverse student body, offering an exciting, stimulating place to learn and work. We pride ourselves on our high standards of teaching and our multi-disciplinary research. The Department is looking to build upon these successes.

You will be an excellent graphic designer, an engaging teacher, and keen to conduct quality research to contribute to our School’s strategic ambitions. You will support the development and delivery of undergraduate programmes with a focus on Level 5. You will also champion the Graphic Design courses, helping to support our ambitious recruitment targets and placement opportunities.

With a Master’s degree in a relevant subject, you will have demonstrable experience in the design and delivery of Graphic Design for HE and/or experience of contemporary design studio environments. We anticipate you will have excellent knowledge of applied graphic principles. You will additionally have a design specialism, which may include UX/UI, Motion, AR, VR, or XR. You will work with an experienced team to support the delivery and administration of the Graphic Design suite, and you will demonstrate that you can support students through a range of methods and strategies to ensure a high-quality learning experience using industry-standard and bespoke software applications.

The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Leader, Stonewall Gold Award holder, Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder, and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.
