The role
The School of Arts is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Immersive and Digital Media. The successful applicant will contribute to curriculum design and teaching on the MA Immersive Arts programme, as well as to the development of new co-taught PGT programmes across the School of Arts, including in Film & Television. MA Immersive Arts is an innovative programme co-taught with computer science colleagues and MSc Immersive Technologies students. You will join the Immersive Arts team at an exciting moment, as the course moves to the University’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, a state of the art interdisciplinary teaching and research facility, and we prepare to launch the MA at University of Bristol’s new Mumbai Enterprise Campus. Successful candidates will make a significant contribution to advancing the University’s research focus on creative and cultural industries and to the Faculty’s Centre for Creative Technologies.
What will you be doing?
Leading and contributing to excellence in research with or on immersive and digital media, achieving grant capture and publishing world-leading and internationally excellent research or practice-as-research outputs. You will provide research leadership and mentorship to staff and postgraduates and lead the development of new themes in emerging media/technologies research.
Curriculum development and content design, including for new ‘Methods for Immersive Research’ and Innovation and ‘Immersive Industries’ units, and future programmes or educational offers. You will deliver existing and new units, contribute teaching to postgraduate and undergraduate programmes, and build our capacity to supervise doctoral students in this growing field of practice and research. You will promote innovative teaching methods that improve student experience, transferable skills creation and employability prospects.
You will direct units/programmes in Immersive Arts and digital media, take a leadership role in the development of education programmes and research initiatives in the School of Arts and Faculty, with a focus on creative technologies and cultural industries. You will contribute to research leadership and development in the School and take on administrative, managerial and leadership roles.
