Job description:
Are you passionate about using statistics to improve psychological therapies? We have an exciting opportunity for a research assistant to join colleagues in the School of Psychology in partnership with the NHS Northern Gambling Service. In this research project, we are applying machine learning methods to healthcare records to develop understanding of why many people drop out before completing treatment.
You will join a team that includes a mix of senior and early career researchers in the School of Psychology, the interdisciplinary Sheffield Addiction Research Group (SARG), and colleagues from the NHS. Your primary role will be to prepare data for analysis, including extracting, cleaning, merging, and coding data from clinical records. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with relevant skills and experience who wants to build a career in data science in healthcare or academic settings.
You should hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, and have the skills and experience to work with complex clinical datasets that include identifiable and sensitive information. A relevant postgraduate qualification, recent experience of working with NHS systems, and experience of natural language processing or text-mining are desirable.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
