Are you passionate about medical education in primary care??   Would you like to contribute to the strategy of a fast-paced, growing medical school?

We are seeking an inspirational educator and role model in general practice for the role of Lead for GP and Community Education. This role will involve working across the KMMS footprint and will make a major contribution to the continuous improvement of the KMMS undergraduate medical programme, including developing placement initiatives and teaching innovations within primary care. . It is open to suitably qualified specialists in General Practice or Community Care (or equivalent) who have a specific interest in medical education.

The successful applicant will be working in current clinical practice within NHS General Practice and have significant evidence of recent expertise in medical education. Ideally, they will also have experience within the following range of activities: student selection, curriculum design, assessment including admissions, use of portfolios in medical education, electronic learning and assessment, and inter-professional learning and assessment.

The role will involve working on the campus sites of both the partner universities in Canterbury and Medway and conducting extensive liaison work with Primary Care placement providers based across Kent and Medway as well as with other community stakeholders including the Kent and Medway Primary Care Training Hub. 

This role will be benchmarked to an appropriate NHS Clinical pay scale where applicable depending on the successful candidate.

As Senior Lecturer in Medical Education (Lead for GP & Community Education) you can expect to be involved in:

  • Using your experience of current clinical practice to deliver high-quality teaching in Primary Care and Community Medicine
  • Contributing to the development and integration of Primary Care and Community placements within the BM BS programme.
  • Working with academic leaders to ensure community learning is integrated into the KMMS educational strategy using experience of current clinical practice in primary care.
  • Provide leadership within the School, including participation in relevant Boards, management teams, and other committees as required.

What will you bring to the role?

  • A primary medical qualification and full registration with the GMC, with a current licence to practise 
  • Current entry on the GMC General Practice Register with a Certificate of Completion of General Practice training (CCT) or equivalent 
  • Current entry on the GP Performers List for England 
  • In current clinical practice within General Practice and commitment to remain in clinical practice for the duration of the KMMS contract
  • Fellowship/Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners 
  • Academic credibility with a track record of excellence in teaching 
  • Recent experience of and commitment to academic leadership and management
