The Courtauld works to advance how we see and understand the visual arts, as an internationally renowned centre for the teaching, research of art history and a major public gallery.
The Courtauld is a small specialist university and home to the largest community of art historians and conservators in the UK. The Courtauld offers a range of degree programmes from BA to PhD in the History of Art, curating and the conservation of easel and wall paintings.
The Courtauld is one of the leading centres in the world for education and research in conservation. We run three year MAs in the conservation of Easel paintings (18 students) and Wall paintings (6-12 students) and 12-month MAs in Buddhist Art History and Conservation (10-12 students, joint with the History of Art department) and Preventive Conservation (12-14 students).
The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Conservation and also supporting the MA Heads of Programme in conservation, this interesting and varied role is an opportunity to work closely with senior academic leaders providing administrative and organisational support to manage the department.
You will assist with course planning, academic recruitment, student experience initiatives, student travel grants, annual budget process and staff TRAC returns, act as secretary for departmental meetings and work with colleagues in the History of Art department to support shared teaching. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the workings of conservation studios and science labs, maintaining specialist equipment and ordering materials.
You will also work closely with faculty members, Executive Assistants and professional services departments, in particular Student Academic Services, Human Resources, Finance and the Library.
