Birmingham City University is a thriving and diverse place to work and study, located right in the heart of the city of Birmingham. Building on continuous success in student growth and in sustained advancement of research activities, the Business School has embarked on a programme of expansion whilst also seeking AASCB accreditation. The Department of Accountancy, Finance and Economics, one of the two departments within the Business School, is now seeking to strengthen its accounting area and is looking for 2 Lecturers in Accounting to join our dynamic team.
In this role you will contribute to the on-campus delivery and development of our undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. You will play a key part in maintaining the Business School’s reputation for teaching excellence by engaging in curriculum development, supervising projects and dissertations, offering pastoral and academic support for our students and ensuring high standards of academic quality.
Alongside the important teaching responsibilities, you will undertake scholarship and administrative duties that support the Business School’s strategic objectives. You will have opportunities to engage with research and enterprise activities and represent the University externally, helping to enhance our visibility and impact both nationally and internationally.
You will bring recognised expertise in the accounting discipline and an ability to offer flexibility, as may be required, across the various areas that fall within the accounting discipline. We are particularly interested in applicants that can demonstrate expertise in any of the areas of Management Accounting, Leadership, and Financial Management. A PhD (completed, or nearing completion) and/or membership of a relevant professional body such as ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA or CIMA is essential.
You will demonstrate a commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching, with the ability to inspire and motivate students across diverse learning environments.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively are vital. Experience and practical industry knowledge would be advantageous.
