The role
We are seeking to appoint a proactive and experienced Training Manager to lead the development and delivery of the Surrey Space Institute’s (SSI) education and training portfolio. This includes CPD programmes, micro-credentials, the SpaceCraft programme for professionals, and the new MSc in Space.
Working closely with the Institute Director and Leadership Team, you will design, coordinate, and promote high-quality training pathways that translate cutting-edge space research into accessible learning for professionals, researchers, and postgraduate students. The postholder will play a key role in ensuring training becomes SSI’s core revenue stream and a driver of the Institute’s long-term sustainability.
About you
You will bring significant experience in managing or coordinating training, CPD, or postgraduate programmes, ideally in Higher Education or a professional training environment. You will have a strong grasp of academic quality assurance and the ability to design learner-focused programmes that meet evolving industry and research needs.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and organisational skills are essential, along with the confidence to work independently, balance competing priorities, and champion SSI’s education mission across the University and with external partners. Knowledge of the space sector is desirable but not essential.
