We are seeking to appoint a Public Engagement Manager to join the Research and Innovation (R&I) team at the University.
In this pivotal role, you will support the Research Development, Policy Engagement, and Innovation teams within R&I in advancing the University’s regional and national policy engagement profile. You will develop and manage regional relationships and policy partnerships to support the University’s strategic priorities, including delivery of the Civic University Agreement and Areas of Research Interest Programme.
The role also involves supporting regional, public and community engagement strands of the Knowledge Exchange Framework, as well as assisting academics in developing policy-relevant research initiatives. You will also support internal funding schemes around civic and public engagement and help academics identify external funding opportunities and prepare successful funding applications.
Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience and holding two A-levels or equivalent or higher qualifications, you will bring excellent relationship management and organisational skills, alongside experience of engaging a range of audiences at local, regional and/or national levels. You will have knowledge of external funding mechanisms that support higher education engagement activities, as well as familiarity with key initiatives encompassing public policy, such as Civic University Agreements, the Research Excellence Framework, and the Knowledge Exchange Framework. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to deliver information on public and policy initiatives to diverse audiences and to design and deliver training and professional development activities for academic and professional staff.
We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties). The current hybrid work pattern requires three days per week to be worked on campus, with the opportunity to work remotely for up to two days per week, following successful completion of the induction period, which is office-based.
