About the role

Brighton and Sussex Medical School invites applications for the post of Senior Curriculum Coordinator (Phase 1).  

Brighton and Sussex Medical School are looking for a motivated and committed person to work as part of the BSMS Curriculum Support Team.  This post is based within our Phase 1 School Office, which is on the University of Sussex campus. 

The post holder is part of the curriculum team which manages the organisation and administration of the curriculum, teaching and assessments in Years 1 & 2 of the undergraduate medical degree programme. They will work closely with BSMS academic and administrative staff, colleagues in units in the parent universities and clinical staff in NHS partner organisations. 

The post-holder will be required to make occasional visits to the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) buildings at the University of Brighton and other school locations. 

About you

Applicants should demonstrate a high level of personal responsibility, initiative, and attention to detail. As no two days will be the same, the postholder will be highly organised, adaptable, and flexible, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a wide range of requests and tasks across the School.

Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) organising and servicing a range of meetings, including acting as secretary; collating and administering student feedback; coordinating induction activities for new students; supporting the recruitment and administration of the Phase 1 Personal Tutor programme; and contributing to a range of teaching and curriculum-related processes.

The successful candidate will be a proactive team player with excellent IT skills and a supportive, student-focused approach. They will be able to communicate information clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, and will be comfortable working with minimal supervision.

This role would suit an experienced administrator with a proven track record of strong organisational and administrative skills, excellent time management, and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
