Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering (B)

Applications are invited for Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering, 1FTE, Specific purpose Contract, Contract Type B at University of Galway.

Please note that the University of Galway is currently advertising two related positions: (i) Permanent Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering position (Ref. #: 011511); (ii) specific-purpose Contract in Biomedical Engineering position (Ref. #: 011530). The University seeks to an internationally leading individual with outstanding research track-records in the field of Biomedical Engineering. Research expertise of applicants may fall under a broad range of areas in the field of Biomedical Engineering, including, but are not limited to, medical device design, experimental and computational cell and tissue mechanobiology, biomaterials, computational biomechanics and digital-twin development for next generation medical innovation.

The successful candidate shall possess:

• A primary degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline;
• A PhD in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline;
• Experience in third level teaching, including lecturing, lab supervision and student supervision;
• A developing high-potential research track-record with a strongly developing publication record in leading peer-reviewed journals, a developing high-potential track-record in research funding, and high-potential to develop a strong research programme in Biomedical Engineering;
• An ability to conduct management in a public service university environment;
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, and an ability and commitment to develop collaborative relationships with other academic staff in the pursuit of teaching and research objectives in Biomedical Engineering;
• A strong commitment to working with colleagues within existing, established research centres and groups and a willingness to develop and lead new research activity and research groupings;
• A strong commitment to contributing to the development and delivery of established and new postgraduate taught programmes and modules;
• A strong commitment to working with the medical technologies industry.

Biomedical Engineering - University of Galway

Salary: 64,260 to 102,513 p.a. (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
