The post holder will report to the Head of Student Wellbeing. The post holder will work in matrix structure and need to build strong working relationships within the Student Experience Team, central Study Group teams and the university partner to ensure the smooth running of the Centre.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Responsibility for the provision of student welfare and safeguarding within the centre and the related administration and secure record-keeping
  • Ensure effective case management of all student welfare concerns or information on learning differences, health conditions and disabilities' students, ensuring the safeguarding of students in line with Study Group policy and standard operating procedures
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead which occasionally may require out of hours support.
  • Monitor student whereabouts and coordinate the procedure as required
  • Create Agreed Support Plans (ASPs), including Safety Plans and Exit Plans, ensuring the necessary approval and escalation processes are followed
  • Organise induction and other wellbeing, enrichment and engagement activities, produce related materials to help develop skills and sense of community
  • Ensure escalation of any concerns to the Student Experience Manager and Central Student Wellbeing team as required
  • Work collaboratively with teams within the ISC to enable a holistic and consistent approach to Welfare Support and to advocate and embed inclusive practice within the classroom
  • Maintain the Wellbeing and Welfare section on the online Virtual Reception
  • Build relationships with the University Partner to ensure a cooperative and collaborative relationship to promote effective engagement to the benefit of students
  • Contribute to developing, communicating and enacting Study Group’s Student Experience and Wellbeing Strategy, framework, policy and standard operating procedures through the Wellbeing Communities of Practice and DSL meetings.
  • Support local awareness raising of safeguarding and safeguarding practices and procedures
  • Contribute to the production of the Quarterly and Annual Safeguarding review and relevant parts of the Annual Monitoring Report and any governance committees and groups as required
  • Be a key point of contact for all students and deal professionally and promptly with student enquiries and requests for support, fostering positive relationships with the student body.

ABOUT YOU  

  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Higher level safeguarding training
  • Supporting students in an educational context
  • Working to develop, build and maintain the Student Experience
  • Working in a regulated environment
  • Ability to structure your work in order to support student welfare and progression, and generate new ideas which will improve performance
  • A strong understanding of Student Support activities and their contribution to the ISC as a whole, or equivalent experience in a similar setting
  • A commitment to improve the team's performance and the ability to provide constructive feedback to team members about their work 
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across functional areas, adopting a flexible working style
  • Excellent IT and data management skills including: competency in Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word, and a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies
  • Ability to extract, manipulate and analyse data for reporting, to aid decision making or to support a case for change
  • Ability to solve problems by thorough investigation
  • Gathering of relevant information to aid good decision making
  • Ability to consider potential issues and put measures in place to deal with implications
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues 
  • Understanding the implications of you and your team's work in the wider context of the ISC and externally
