The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.
The Department of Physics is looking to recruit a Business and Outreach Coordinator to work on the COMPOS (Comprehensive Oxford Maths and Physics Online School) Outreach programme. This post is fixed term for one year to cover a period of maternity leave, and is a remote/home working position primarily.
The COMPOS programme provides advanced online lectures and weekly small-group tutorials — delivered mostly by Oxford undergraduates — to around 1,000 students from across the UK, including ~20% from the lowest-income backgrounds and 35% women or non-binary students. Both are funded by philanthropic donations, and are widely recognised as leading national resources for students interested in physics and mathematics beyond the school curriculum. We are particularly keen to support student in schools without specialist physics or maths teachers or those who come from backgrounds historically underrepresented in STEM.
The chosen candidate will take charge of promotional and marketing activities for the programme from social media to raising awareness in traditional media outlets to direct school outreach. A key component of the role is relationship management to reach both those who would benefit from the programme and those who can help deliver it.
