Trinity College Dublin is recruiting for the new role of Strategic Research Communications Manager.

Based in Trinity Research, the purpose of the role is to lead on the development and delivery of an integrated strategic research communications strategy, and to create and execute research impact communications campaigns across the breadth and depth of Trinity’s research areas. Reporting to the Head of Research Engagement and Impact, the postholder will be responsible for designing and delivering a portfolio of research narratives in a range of formats, and evaluating the effectiveness of associated communications campaigns.

Demanding strategic thinking, exceptional storytelling abilities, the ability to translate complex research into compelling, accessible narratives that demonstrate real-world impact, and the ability to manage many priorities, the postholder will deliver on a range of priorities for Trinity Research, including: telling the story of the societal, cultural, environmental, economic, and policy impacts of the University’s research; advancing research competitiveness and influence; strengthening Trinity’s research reputation; delivering thought leadership campaigns; and showcasing research engagement and impact stories across the full research grant life-cycle.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing engaging narratives for a variety of external audiences, a commitment to advancing understanding of the societal impact of research, and the ability to create communications campaigns that enhance organisational reputation. The successful candidate will proactively manage their own workload in line with strategic goals, prioritise tasks as they arise, as well as being able to work well as part of a team. This role demands excellent communication, administrative and organisational skills, and the ideal candidate will be able to work with researchers through the grant life-cycle, in addition to being able to initiate, develop, plan and evaluate their activities and projects successfully to deliver on objectives.

Post Status: 3 Year Fixed Term

The duration of this contract is limited to the advertised fixed-term period as the role is a newly established position created to support the delivery of strategic research communications initiatives linked to Trinity Research’s current Strategic Plan.

Hours of Post: 35 hours per week

Salary: Appointment will be made on the Administrative Officer 1 (1-3) €70,240 - €90,865 per annum) and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines: https://www.tcd.ie/hr/employee-services/pay-scales/
