The University of Huddersfield, in partnership with Bodyease Ltd., the UK’s leading mobility bed manufacturer, is offering an exciting Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) role for a high-calibre graduate to help deliver a strategic project developing next-generation smart mattress technology with integrated intelligent systems.
The KTP scheme is one of the UK’s largest graduate employment programmes, offering a £6,000 training budget, specialist management training from specialists at Ashorne Hill, dedicated coaching and mentoring, and the option to work toward a CMI Diploma in Management.
As a Smart Healthcare Technology Engineer, you’ll be based at Bodyease with access to University of Huddersfield facilities and will work collaboratively with both partners. This is a fixed-term contract for 36 months, however, successful completion of the KTP may lead to long-term employment at Bodyease Ltd as an R&D Manager or a similar position.

Bodyease Limited is a family-owned manufacturer specialising in electric power-assisted beds and mobility solutions for the healthcare sector. Founded over 30 years ago, the company provides essential mobility equipment to care homes and independent living facilities across the UK. With an annual turnover of £3.18 million and a team of 28 skilled ISO 9001 accredited craftsmen, the company manufactures 250-350 mobility beds weekly alongside 500-600 standard mattresses. The company is now embarking on a transformative journey to integrate smart healthcare technology into the products, positioning themselves at the forefront of digital health innovation.
The Role
The role involves developing and integrating smart sensors, IoT systems, data analytics, AI and ML into Bodyease’s next-generation mattress products. Please refer to the recruitment pack for full details.
The Person
A bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering, communication engineering, mechatronics engineering or a closely related discipline is essential, along with experience in electronics, data acquisition, communication and IoT applications.
