Faculty Assistant

University of Buckingham - Faculty of Business, Humanities & Social Sciences

Location: Buckingham
Salary: £25,290
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 5th February 2026
Closes: 18th February 2026
Job Ref: 193

The University of Buckingham is among the fifteen smallest universities in the UK and is rightly proud of its distinctive features, namely: it is the only private, not-for-profit University in the UK with a Royal Charter; secondly, it pioneered the first accelerated (two-year) degree; and finally, it provides students with a personalised learning experience through its small-group academic tutorial system and exceptional pastoral care provision.

Due to an increase in students in the research and apprenticeships area, the Faculty of Business, Humanities & Social Sciences is looking to recruit a fulltime Faculty Assistant to join a busy team based on our Hunter Street campus. Due to the need to initiate workloads very quickly, the successful candidate should have a strong understanding of HE and/or FE settings, ideally currently or recently employed within the sector.

Job Purpose:

  • Faculty Assistants are accountable to the Faculty Registrar for supporting the delivery of administrative processes within the Faculty of Business, Humanities & Social Sciences. Post-holders will support the delivery of front-line administrative services within their allocated domain or cohort, including day-to-day academic and student enquiries, attendance monitoring, examinations and assessment and maintaining a customer-service based approach to the delivery of services.

Duties will include:

  • To support the delivery of administrative processes across a specific domain and/or cohort, as determined by the Faculty Registrar, in accordance with its academic mission and the University’s regulatory obligations and internal frameworks.
  • To support the delivery of front-line administrative services within their allocated domain or cohort, including day-to-day academic and student enquiries, attendance monitoring, examinations, assessment, data entry and preparation and sending of communications to stakeholders.
  • To undertake any additional duties required by the Faculty Registrar and/or other senior administrative staff commensurate with the scope and purpose of the role.

The post also demands knowledge of MS Office 365, customer service and communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving capability, and an understanding of University structures and systems.

Knowledge of eVision/SITS would be advantageous although full training will be given.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 18th February 2026.

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on week commencing 23rd February 2026.
