LSE Cities is leading a range of research initiatives to help urban governments across Europe to strengthen their city government innovation capacity, particularly related to the governance of emergencies, digital and data transitions, and polarising policy domains such as transport.
The postholder will support respective research teams by bringing in first-hand experience from local politics and city administration, coordinating and conducting key research activities and working with team members on scoping, testing and refining of appropriate methodologies, selecting and securing city government innovation research partners, developing research plans and undertaking fieldwork.
Candidates should have a postgraduate qualification (Master’s degree or equivalent experience) in public policy, political science, local government, transport studies or a closely related field, a strong research interest in and understanding of the study of urban government, public administration, and/or public sector innovation, and first-hand experience in local politics and city administration as elected official.
