We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Cancer Immunology to join a Cancer Research UK (CRUK)–funded research programme investigating the mechanisms of immuno-suppression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with the goal of developing novel antibody-based therapeutics.

This wet-lab position is based at the Centre for Immuno-Oncology, within the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, under the supervision of Dr Felipe Galvez-Cancino. The post is supported by a CRUK Career Development Fellowship and forms part of a broader collaborative initiative within the University and the Oxford Liver Cancer Centre of Excellence focused on improving outcomes in HCC.

You will use preclinical mouse models to dissect the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving immuno-suppression in HCC. The project incorporates advanced technologies including spectral flow cytometry, single-cell RNA sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics.

The successful candidate will manage their own research and associated administrative responsibilities within the framework of the programme. You will be encouraged to develop ideas for generating research income, contribute to new project development, and participate in the training and supervision of DPhil students. The role also involves supporting the Principal Investigator with grant applications and collaborative initiatives, contributing to high-quality publications, and assisting in the appropriate management of intellectual property in partnership with the University.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative immunotherapeutic strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma.

Applicants must hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in immunology, cancer biology, molecular oncology, or a related discipline. Experience with preclinical mouse models, human immunology and human tissue samples, and flow cytometry and other single-cell technologies is essential.

Applications should be submitted online and must include a CV and supporting statement. The supporting statement should clearly demonstrate how you meet each of the selection criteria, providing specific examples of relevant skills and experience. Please submit only these documents at this stage; additional materials may be requested later.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position available until 31 March 2029, funded by a CRUK Career Development Fellowship.

Only applications received before 12 midday on 2 March 2026 will be considered. Please quote 184757 in all correspondence.
