The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. As the Senior Information Security Officer you will play a key role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our information assets. You will lead and deliver information security initiatives, working across the university to embed best-practice security controls, provide expert advice, strengthen governance and respond to incidents. Reporting to the Head of Information Security (or equivalent), you will be a trusted partner to IT, academic, research and business teams.
This role-holder would be someone with a strong track record in information security in a complex organisation (preferably higher education or research-intensive), who can operate at a senior level and engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You should hold a relevant degree (or equivalent) in IT, cybersecurity, risk management or related discipline, plus substantial professional experience along with experience operating within or alongside an enterprise SOC or MDR service, including alert triage and incident response and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to make sound decisions under pressure. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and permanent.
In line with LSHTM’s hybrid working framework (currently minimum 2 days each week in the office), the post-holder will have considerable flexibility in working arrangements, with a combination of office- and home-based working.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 - £51,872 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
